Welcome to Prinsloo Pastures

Have you ever wanted to know more about where your food comes from? Have you ever thought of meeting the people who grow or raise it for you? Are you curious about healthy, unique or sustainably raised local food products?

My name is Wian Prinsloo, I am a young farmer and first generation Canadian immigrant. I have wanted to farm for as long as I can remember and am very grateful to all the people who have been buying my pasture raised chickens for the last 2 years. Farming is such a dynamic profession and I enjoy every day I spend working with nature to raise quality foods for local eaters who are looking for something healthy, raised locally in an environmentally responsible manner.

Along with pastured chickens there is also an Alpine dairy goat for farm fresh milk. There is also a large garden from which shares of vegetables are available. This year will also see the addition of heritage Berkshire pigs and turkeys. There may also be some cows and calves grazing there too. The farm is in the south-east located near the town of Sundown, between Vita and Sprague, south of the Sandilands Provincial Forest. There are approximately 120 acres of perennial native and tame pasture land. The balance of the land is mixed poplar, spruce and hardwood forest and low lying areas which offer excellent quality wildlife habitat for deer, bear, a multitude of small mammals and plenty of bird life.

Let me know if you would like some delicious locally raised range fed chickens or turkeys. They are available on a pre-production order basis and I come into Winnipeg throughout the summer and fall. Berkshire pork is available too. I can’t wait to finally enjoy this flavorful gourmet Berkshire pork. I will also have available Manitoba lamb as always. Occassionally I also offer shares of vegetables from the garden.

If you would like to know more or come for a visit in the summer just give me a call at 997-4105 or email me wian@prinsloopastures.com.
